India is very rich and diversified when it comes to folk music. The cultural diversity across the country creates endless flavors of folk styles. Each region has its own flavor and charisma.
A common ear may confuse folk and tribal music but they are entirely two different styles of music. The similarity between these two styles is none of them a formal finishing school and mostly learnt and practiced as they have been passed on from one generation to other.Folk music came associated with various social events (example wedding/marriage, birth, hunting, harvest etc.). These events gave the people a chance to practice, polish and perform this musical form.
